Whatever else I might've thought that the author of a book like
The Crimson Petal And The White would have written, it certainly wasn't this - this book is very strange, and nothing like that other. It's basically an allegory, and a somewhat heavy-handed one at that, and there are gaping holes in its premise and some truly awkward moments, but it's also somehow clear-sighted and unexpectedly affecting, causing me to forgive many of its flaws. I don't really know what to think about
Under The Skin.
