Despite having listened to
Silent Shout a fair bit over the last few weeks, I'm still totally conflicted as to how I feel about the record. Part of the trick, for me at least, is hearing the album as a pop record rather than, as I initially was, as a goth-tinged, vaguely song-oriented brand of techno - taken on those terms, I'm much better able to appreciate the pulsating movement, evocative, ominous, chilly, of tracks like "Silent Shout" itself, "Neverland", "We Share Our Mother's Health" and "Marble House". But still, I'm not completely sold.
