Shin Godzilla

Two particularly delightful things about this recent reboot by the original Godzilla studio: the focus on the bureaucratic and political response to the threat posed by the creature's emergence near Tokyo (with additional resonance, google tells me, in the context of post-Fukushima Japanese society, as well as effective weaving in of Japanese post-WWII society and relations with the US); and the seemingly unabashedly crappy practical and other special effects associated with Godzilla itself. I liked it.
