"Living Dyingly: On Writing Death" (MWF)

Buddhist monk Gyatso (Adrian Feldmann), doctor and author Leah Kaminsky and journalist Deepanjana Pal. Moderated by Sophie Cunningham. Bits and pieces:

  • It's a sign of maturity when you achieve independence from needing to be loved and gain joy from loving others - a point where Buddhism meets psychology, according to Gyatso. (Very debatable.)
  • Sex-selected abortion in India criminalised (ie parents opting for abortion upon learning their baby is a girl).
  • Writing as a form of meditation and transcendence.
  • On the funeral pyre, there's a 'popping' sound from particular bones in the back of the neck, and that's when you can leave. (India; rituals surrounding death.)
